The film is a romantic comedy produced by Ambika Movies and directed by Raviraja. It stars newcomer Namitha, Tamil actor Arun Vijay, and actress Sneha amongst many others. The film got mixed reviews from critics upon release in April 2015. Piriyatha Varam Vendum is an upcoming Kannada romantic comedy produced by Ambika Movies and directed by Raviraja. It stars newcomer Namitha as the female lead who falls for a guy without any interest in her but later realizes that he's been smitten with her from the very first time he saw her onscreen during a shoot. The audiences will be taken on a ride as the story unfolds with many twists and turns. A new comer Arun Vijay plays the lead role of Darshan, an aspiring actor who gets imitated by his friends at college. Sneha plays Namitha's friend, while Achu Raju plays an important villain role in the film. The film had a small run time of 100 days in theatres due to its poor response. However it was declared a hit at the box office by the producers who presented the film on silver screens across Karnataka for nearly 3000 days since its release. According to Director Raviraja, "The reason for the film's success is the realness in the story. It has a lot of parallels in our lives. The falling in love happens when you are least expecting it." Sneha says "Though I have acted in many films, this is my first Malayalee film. It was described as a comedy when I signed up for it, but when I signed up, I was told that it will also have romance elements in it. At times, there was so much laughter on set that we couldn't find time to do our dialogue narration."
The film received mixed reviews from critics upon release. Sify wrote "Boys will be boys! Love the movie. needs to become commercial".. News18 wrote "If you are looking for an entertaining role, this film is for you..." IBN Live praised the film for its screenplay, direction and performances. Raviraja's previous film Yevadu was also a hit at the box office.
The music is composed by Gurukiran, who is well known for his work in films like Magadheera, Swamy Ra Ra Lekha, Krishna Gaadi Nilayam etc. The songs are written by Ramesh Aravind
The satellite rights of the movie were sold to STAR Vijay (South). The film was later dubbed in to Tamil as "Unnodu Kaigal Endral Piriyadhai" and in Hindi as "Pyar Ka Dharmayudh".
